To ensure the readiness of Indonesia to host FIFA's U-20 World Cup this coming May, FIFA representatives inspected several stadiums that are going to host the sports event, including Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium in Bandung, West Java and Gelora Sriwijaya Jakabaring Stadium, in Palembang, South Sumatra.
Escorted by members of Indonesia's football association or PSSI, FIFA representatives inspected Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium at the Gedebage area.
They checked the condition of the grass in the soccer field, security facilities, and dressing rooms.
According to officials from Bandung Municipality, they have tried their best to plant grass on the soccer field.
Meanwhile, FIFA representatives led by Christian Schmolzer as FIFA Project Team arrived at the Gelora Sriwijaya Jakabaring Stadium, in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Friday (24/3/2023) morning, to inspect the preparations of the stadium to host FIFA U-20 World Cup.
They checked several points, such as spectator benches, and the VIP box. Some renovations are still ongoing to fix the stadium to be suited to FIFA standards. The final renovation is expected to end by March 31st.
