Indonesia & UK Sign MoU On Sustainable Shipbuilding

Indonesia and the UK steep up new government-to-government partnerships in establishing railway system in Indonesia and also sustainable commercial shipbuilding.

UK Secretary of State for Export and Indonesian Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi deepened both countries' concerns on development of sustainable transportation in Indonesia, particularly the railway system. The collaboration was actually started in November last year when Indonesia and UK signed letter of intent and also expression of interest from UK export finance, an agency of export loans.

It will finance for developing Mass Rapid Transportation in greater Jakarta with USD1.25 billion loan, roughly 1.1 billion pound sterling.

Both ministers also signed MoU on sustainable commercial shipbuilding. Which also stated that both countries willing to strengthen partnerships in sea transportation. For decades, the UK has became one of Indonesia's biggest trade and investment partners.
