Indonesian Ministry of Health Orders 20 Million Doses of Inavac Vaccine
The Indonesian health ministry has ordered 20 million doses of the Indonesian homegrown covid-19 vaccine, Inavac.
Indonesia's first homegrown vaccine 'Inavac', was developed by state-run airlangga university and biotic pharmaceuticals Indonesia, a joint venture company of China's pharma international and state-own company Harbin Weike.
2 months after it received emergency use authorization from BPOM, Indonesia's drug and food control agency, inavac will be used as a booster vaccine, and will be distributed for public use in all provinces across Indonesia this year. Last year the health ministry also bought five million doses of Inavac.
So far, Inavac could only be used for adults aged 18 years and above. but currently, producers of inavac are conducting studies. to ensure that vaccines can be used for children and teens.
Syria Earthquake Caused More Than 1,500 People
A powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck southeast Turkey and northern Syria has killed more than a thousand and five hundred people, with hundreds believed to be trapped under rubble, Monday (6/2/2023).
The toll is expected to rise as rescuers search for dead and survivors in dozens of collapsed buildings across the region. Footage captured by the Syrian civil defense in Idlib shows the recovery efforts, with bulldozers being used to clear debris.
Rescue workers and residents in multiple cities searched for survivors, working through tangles of metal and giant piles of concrete.
Meanwhile, a building collapsed in Turkey on Monday, as rescuers nearby were searching for survivors after a powerful 7,8 magnitude earthquake rocked southeastern Turkey and northern Syria early Monday.
Live footage from Turkish news agency d-h-a shows the collapse as locals and first responders rushed away from the site, and it wasn't clear if the entire structure had collapsed.
In Malatya, Turkey, people were filmed running from a tall building just before it collapsed.
Hundreds were still believed to be trapped under rubble, and the toll was expected to rise as rescue workers searched mounds of wreckage in cities and towns across the area.

European Commission President Visits Kyiv
Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, met with European Commission President, Ursula Von Der Leyen ahead of what officials described as a summit.
Von Der Leyen praised wartime Ukraine’s brilliant application for European union membership, though Brussels officials note that Ukraine joining the 27-nation bloc is still a long way off. Von Der Leyen said EU assistance for Ukraine has reached 50 Billion Euros since the start of Russia’s war.
On the other side, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine deserves to start negotiations on EU membership this year.
He commented on a meeting he had with European Commission President, suggesting that Ukraine and the Commission, have reached very important mutual understandings.
US, South Korea are Back to Combined Air Drill in Yellow Sea
South Korea and the United States held another session of combined air drills, after their joint drills over the Yellow Sea earlier the week.
Seoul's Defense Ministry said the allies conducted a joint air exercise over the yellow sea again, which involved the most advanced jet fighters, F22, F35B, and F16CM from the US air force, and F35A jets from South Korean air force, Friday (3/2/2023).
Some jet fighters took off from Gunsan Air Base, and F35A jets of South Korean air force departing from the Cheongju air base to participate in the exercise.
